Quarteira city

Quarteira is a Portuguese parish in the municipality of Loulé, with an area of ​​37.78 km² and 21 798 inhabitants (2011). Density: 577 hab / km².

The Civil Parish of Quarteira, now a parish, was created in 1916, through the Algarve deputy Dr. José Maria de Pádua, who presented the project in 1914 in the Assembly of the Republic. Years later, the town was elevated on 28 June 1984 and the city on 13 May 1999, through Law No. 52/99, of 24 June.

It has 2 km of blue flag beach. It has become a popular holiday destination since the 1960s, mainly due to its extensive beach and unique climate. Later Vilamoura appears, which is considered as a tourist destination with great potential for lovers of golf and water sports, such as jet skiing, sailing, windsurfing, diving and fishing.

When it comes to gastronomy, there are excellent restaurants in Quarteira, which showcase the freshest fish and seafood in the entire region.

Among the tourist attractions is the aquashow, a water park that has existed for more than two decades and is located right at the entrance to Quarteira, next to the EN 396.
